What does an Unused book condtion mean?

I have predefined book conditions and methods to evaluate the books. They can be found on the Important terms page.
I no longer buy books for resale but many of the books I have were purchased new direct from the publisher or author.  Those books have often been on my shelves for more than 20 years.  They haven't been read or maybe even opened. Some are in original shrink wrap.  Are these books new or used?  I consider them Unused. If you purchase one of these books be sure that no other person has ever read them.
