The German-born author's acumen was impressive and I was grateful that he left out most of Napoleon's women, his illegitimate children, etc. The one's that matter to history, (Josephine and Marie-Louise) are properly included. The book gave me a good overview of the political, military and social scene of the period and I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in the fascinating life of Napoleon. It is a lesson in "overreach" and "delusional thinking", subjects that are still germane to our days. - Tatzelwurm
