While an older title, it is a good overview of the situation following Napoleon's defeat in Russia. Lawford draws good portraits of the various players, enlightening the text with good maps and illustrations. This book is recommended for the general history reader, not the deep military historian. As an introduction to the final campaigns of Napoleon Bonaparte, it nicely summarizes events, drawing upon classic works like Chandler's Campaigns of Napoleon or Petre's Napoleon's Last Campaign in Germany 1813.
