First Edition. Full title: "The Reluctant King - Joseph Bonaparte King of the Two Sicilies and Spain". It is a solid and informative biography. Of course, one can not get around Napoleon, but this is not - as ever so often when members of the Bonaparte family are subjects of biographies - a short version of a biography of Napoleon himself. The book is honest about Joseph - his talents and his failings, the not too happy marrriage, his mistresses, his kingships and political career otherwise are described in full. One gains a pretty clear picture of his personality and carrer. All in all a biography I can only recommend. -
